Helsinki Summer Sky

Firs reach up like brushes
to paint you a deeper blue

gulls drift on taut wings over
waves crumpling against rocky islets

myriads of small bright coloured boats
sidle around towering white ferries

your summer bounty
glints on every surface

fresh minted each day

  1. Thanks for this one Kim – another gorgeous Helsinki poem! I believe that summer’s bounty is especially appreciated in Scandinavia where the sun shines so late into the night, before the long winter comes in.

  2. This is a beautiful poem Kim, has a wonderful freshness that makes one smile. 🙂 Thank you for visiting my Image & Verse blog. I’ve been publishing quite a number of my poems on that blog for 16 years — been writing poems and lyrics for 51 years. Please stop back to visit and read again. The Purple Turtle would have been my kinda place! 👍🏼
