Give me the hills
that I may look down upon life
and up into the infinite
that I may relish fresh air
and the walk behind me
Give me their space and quietude
the grace to understand
their perspective

i absolutely love this gorgeous poem. You broaden my sense of what’s possible. The divine peeks through the thoughts.

Thank you Sharon. I am not a believer, but I taste the divine when on a hill. I was trying to capture some of that – it seems I did!

Just looked again at your beautiful watercolor painting and realized that I have a very similar view where I live in California. A broad expanse of flat land and a horizon of mountains in the near distance.

Oh lovely! My painting is of Dunkery Beacon on Exmoor. The view Is from a sheep farm that we have stayed at for many family holidays.

Give me the hills any day too, one of the best places to find peace of mind and sanctuary! I feel this!

This hill dweller, with most of his walk already behind him, with not much left to do but enjoy the freshest of air, really enjoyed this outstanding work. His hat is off.

There’s something about walking about in this world that helps us find quietude, amassing the presence which makes us citizens of the quiet — at least when I leave my thought and enter the world’s. I found that here, thanks – B

Walking is now prescribed for depression here in the UK. I’m glad that you found quietude in my poem Brendan.
