Leaves are lost in the wind
that complains all the night
Today I walked, bartered space with others on the street
apart, always to be apart now
then, tired of it all, came home to play with words
Winter prepares to enter bodies
it may have already entered my heart

I envy you your summer Ivor, it is dreary, rainy and cold here today. The ground is sodden (oh there’s a good word).

Thank you Sherry. I’ve been fairly positive all year, but the rise in cases is chilling –as is the new mutation.

I think, it may have already entered the hearts of many of us. A timely, mournful poem. I console myself with mince pies!

That image of bartering space is so perfect. it seems that now we must always make way. (K)

There’s a wolf-like aspect to this winter, cornering us alone … Here in Florida USA it’s a different sort of separation, one you know there should be though there’s almost not evidence of it. The invisible swarming between us. – Brendan

Short and sharp as winter. Bartering time with complete strangers is hard and unrewarding usually, and this winter is particular has bitten deep already, mild though it is.

Oh, in our little place, mostly we smile and move around each other fairly happily. There are those who march straight at you, but you can see they are upset. But the virus has mutated to more virulence and we are all now chilled with dread.

It’s sad and frightening to be regarded as ‘the enemy’. I can’t say that it’s changed people that much here. Not complaining!

Hopefully neither of us is ‘the enemy’. ;)

I doubt that we are, but fear does funny things to people. I’m keeping away from crowds, don’t feel comfortable in them at the best of times.

Certainly sums up this winter…. scary times — especially with the new mutation. (They say it’s probably here in the U.S. too, though no proof yet. It’s bad enough as it is.) Take good care.

Certainly scary here. Our local cases are doubling each week. We are keeping well away from everyone.
