We have stopped and time
stretches, strains at the leash
pulling us back to where we left off
Look at the illusions we had
lay them bare, strip them of potency
think rather than fear
Do you really need to rush back
or can you move on
tempered, like steel?

Yes, we have stopped, but of course, time has not, and so we are stretched..this is sharp from start to finish, and very apt.

Yes, and all those plans now abandoned.

Great initial image – to be stilled with time yanking at us from its leash — curious if time can then be “tempered,” like steel. Good question. – Brendan

An excellent metaphor for the lockdown, Kim! I especially love the image of time straining at the leash, ‘pulling us back to where we left off’. The leash I hold is slack at the moment, I don’t want to go back to the way it was before and am holding out for something better, but after yesterday’s announcement I’m beginning got wonder if I will ever be tempered like steel.

I am planning to stay as we are. But so many people are talking online of thier lists of what they want to do when lockdown is lifted. Also your and my experience is very different to those stuck in city centre flats like my son.
