Two fields over, Rooks argue
a raucous parley that
goes on and on and on
while other birds sing prettily
Here in the meadow we have knelt
as if worshipping
to peer at tiny pink blooms
wobbling on a frail stem
On the way home
we walk a green lane
lambs call behind a hawthorn hedge
a ewe responds, deep voiced
Pretty bird song
clamorous rooks, bountiful sheep
tremulous flower
Are all remnants
Of a greater whole
Nature worn ragged
Broken
By our actions
Or inactions
And I feel the need to
kneel once more
in supplication
and in fear

May all these happy pictures of our pretty mother earth sustain us forever in spite of all our misdeeds. So beautiful.

I feel your feelings exactly. This morning is sunny, as beautiful a West Cost morning as is possible………holding that beauty, and the knowledge that Antarctica reached 67 degrees yesterday is a hard thing.

What lovely details! And at a deeper level I can feel the fear, hope and love all intertwined.

Thank you Rosemary. What grieves me is the indifference so many people feel.

Sometimes I feel that we need those small reminders of nature’s beauty to cope with the rest.
May the meadows grow mighty.

Nature worn ragged. Sigh. You make me want to raise sheep.

I am inspired that you found beauty in the small things around you. Sometimes, we need to be thankful to mother earth for still giving us the gift of beauty.
